Paducah, Ashland) for meetings, whether it be for Board purposes or
Committee meetings, can request reimbursement for their mileage at the
IRS Standard mileage reimbursement rate.

| Jackie Warner (President) | This committee meets and carefully reviews the Chapter's finances and sets the budget for the next fiscal year. This committee is always made up of the immediate past president, the vice president elect and the treasurer. (This committee will begin planning the budget for 2008 in Sept./Oct. of 2007.) | ||

| Community Challenge Weekend - 2008 | |||
| Sherry Porter [Chair] | This committee meets and selects a project that the Chapter can host to benefit our community. In years past it has been helping children in need by providing a Halloween Party and school supplies, clothing drives, etc. Community Challenge is in October each year so the Committee would begin meeting in early Summer. | ||

| Education Committee - 2009 (2 speakers to be in Lexington) | |||
| Lana McGinnis (V.P) [Chair] * | This committee is always chaired by the Vice President/President Elect. The Committee will meet in the Fall to plan and identify speakers for the next year (January to December) to ensure that each monthly meeting has a speaker that will provide educational value to our Chapter. The Committee is available to assist the Retreat Committee in obtaining speakers for the Fall Retreat. | ||

| Retreat - 2009 | |||
| Faye Satterwhite [Chair] | This Committee is in charge of planning the Retreat. They obtain a budget from the board, select the location, plan the weekend (Thurs-Friday), select speakers, make entertainment arrangements, meal planning, put together snack/gift bags for each attendee, etc., set up brochures and mail out invitations. | ||

| Holiday Party - 2008 (Can be either in Lou. or Lex. or in between) | |||
| Diana Curl [Chair] |
This Committee is in charge of planning the Holiday Party the 2nd Thursday in December. They will receive a budget from the Board, chose the location and menu, any door prizes, table decorations, and gift bag or party favor for each attendee, etc. They also prepare for drawings for scholarships. They will draft and mail out invitations. This Committee can begin planning in mid to late August to reserve a desired location. | ||

| New Members - 2008-2009 | |||
| Joni Pardue [Chair] | This Committee would meet to brainstorm ways to recruit and bring new members to the monthly meetings. The committee will be proactive by inviting potential new members to chapter meetings, the vendor show and other hosted chapter events. The committee should be creative in developing a recruitment plan to encourage joining ALA & the Kentucky Chapter. Once a person has joined, the committee will develop a mentor program to ensure the new member is welcomed and encouraged to become involved. RECRUIT, MENTOR AND ENCOURAGE INVOLVEMENT. | ||

| Jackie Warner (President) [Chair] | This Committee is always chaired by the current President. The Committee would take nominations for the new Board, contact the nominees to see if they are willing to serve, obtain bios, submit ballot to the membership. Per Chapter By-Laws, any person on the Nominating Committee cannot be considered for a Board position. | ||

| Vendor Expo - 2008 | |||
| Leta Watson [Chair] | This Committee will plan and run the Vendor Expo held each year by the local Chapter. The Board will provide a budget. This Committee will also host a Vendor Appreciation cocktail hour in the Fall prior to the June Expo as a "save the date" and to showcase the location of the next Expo. The prior year's Chair will always stay on to assist the current Chair. A Co-Chair will be named to Chair the event for the following year. | ||

| Past Chairpersons are encouraged to meet with the new Chairpersons to turnover binders (if any) and to assist the new Chairpersons. Each Committee will receive plenty of guidance and help from the past committee members. |
